Vallorbe Escapement File, Barrette, Cut 4 – Fine Grade

Designed, developed and manufactured in Switzerland, these high-quality Vallorbe files undergo rigorous checks to ensure they stand the test of time.

Made from high carbon steel and suitable for use on all metals, they deliver a superior performance time and again.

This Vallorbe Escapement Barrette File measures 55mm in length, 4.3mm in width and 1.3mm thickness and features an obtuse triangular section which gives it 2 profiles; 2 narrower sides that form a point and 1 wider flat side, making it ideal for creating a sharp v shape within your metal or simply for use on a smooth flat surface.

Jewellers may wish to use a separate set of needle files for gold work to avoid cross-contamination of metal.

Although it is not necessary to use a handle with needle files, specific needle file handles are available .

Care should be taken when using these files due to their thickness.

This file has a fine cut 4 finish.

The coarser the file, the more metal is removed. Files are graded as below;

• Cut 00 – Very coarse
• Cut 0 – Coarse
• Cut 1 – Coarse/Medium
• Cut 2 – Medium
• Cut 3 – Medium/Fine
• Cut 4 – Fine
