Creating a mould for your jewellery item is a time-saving solution, in a fast paced industry with demand for quick turn around.

QuickSil makes production moulds but is also ideal for short runs or the last-minute emergencies that are typical in a jewellery manufacturing business.

Cold moulding or RTV (room temperature vulcanising) such as this is generally used for natural materials and wax or resin CAD CAM models as vulcanising would apply too much heat and pressure for them to take.

Additionally unlike a normal cold mould, due to its heat resistance low-temperature, metals such as pewter and other low melting fusible alloys can be poured directly into these rubber moulds.

This Castaldo Quick Sil, RTV Silicon Moulding Putty in light blue comes in two parts which must be kneaded together by hand to create a soft, flexible putty that will create a mould that remains formed and does not become softer and deteriorate over time.

It is also perfect for beginners as it does not require precise measurement or weighting.

This moulding putty is ideal for use with metal clay, either to make a mould of an existing object and reproduce it, or to mould an original creation made in metal clay for further reproduction.

The putty is easy to mix and creates 0% shrinkage which aids you in getting an accurate sized final piece.

Once mixed and added to the frame you can expect this mould to cure in as little as 15 minutes at a temperature of 21°C /70°F.

To use:

• Mix equal parts the putty together by creating pancake shapes of each part A and B on the table (no need to measure exactly)
• Then add part A (catalyst)on top of part B and knead together, pushing down with thumbs and rolling between your palms
• Once completely mixed, press half of the putty into a metal mould frame, add the model, sprue and sprue support and then cover with more putty, making sure to push into any gaps but taking care not to push to hard on the model
• Once dry, ensure that your mould is secured before cutting with a sharp scalpel blade (please seek advice before attempting this)

Please note, warming the frame slightly to 32°C /90°F will result in a quicker cure time.
