Straight Burnisher With Handle

Description

Burnishers are a incredibly versatile tool that can be used for numerous techniques.

It is used for creating shine, contrast to matte finishes by highlighting edges especially of pierced work and to work harden metal wire, brooch pins or earring hooks.

In engraving, a curved burnisher is used to burnish over slips of the graver by pushing a small amount of metal into the Scratch, so disguising the error.

A tapered tool, oval in cross-section, made from a hard polished metal without integral handle.

The tool should be kept lubricated and well oiled so it can work to its full potencial.

The tool should be kept polished (otherwise the finish will be impaired).
