How to Use the Impression Wire Die:

• Select your design : Choose the desired pattern groove from the die. Each of the 20 designs creates a unique texture or decorative shape on your wire.
• Prepare the metal wire : Use a soft metal such as silver, gold, copper, or brass. If needed, anneal the wire (heat it and let it cool) to make it more pliable for impressing the pattern.
• Position the wire : Place the wire securely into the chosen groove on the die. Make sure it’s properly aligned so the impression will be even along the full length.
• Strike with a mallet : Using a nylon, brass, or rawhide mallet, strike the wire firmly and evenly along the length of the die groove. The pressure from the mallet transfers the design from the die onto the surface of the wire. (Tip: Avoid using a steel hammer directly on the die, as it can damage both the tool and the wire.)
• Check the pattern : Lift the wire and inspect the texture. If the impression isn’t deep enough, reposition and strike again gently until you achieve the desired detail.
• Finish the wire : Once patterned, trim and shape the wire for your jewellery project perfect for rings, bangles, earrings, pendants, or decorative borders. You can polish or patinate the wire to enhance the design.
