• Submerge the pan in water. Shake it gently side to side and in a circular motion. This allows the heavier gold particles to settle at the bottom while lighter sand and gravel move to the top.
• Tilt the pan slightly and use a gentle swirling or washing motion to remove lighter material, keeping the heavier particles in the bottom of the pan. Repeat this step several times.
• Once most of the lighter material has been washed away, inspect the bottom of the pan carefully, collect any visible gold flakes or small nuggets.
• Continue the process with the remaining material until all potential gold has been recovered.
