Cast Iron Crucible With Handle

Description

This compact cast iron crucible features a practical pouring lip and is securely attached to a combined steel and wooden handle, making it ideal for small smelting and casting tasks. The handle can be removed, allowing the crucible to be used independently when required.

Cast iron offers clean melting performance and provides a good level of resistance to chemical corrosion, making it suitable for repeated use in workshop or hobby environments.

Before first use, the crucible must be seasoned. This is done by gradually heating it and coating the interior with borax until a smooth, glass-like surface forms. Once prepared, metal grain can be melted into liquid form and carefully poured into a designated mould.

This crucible is designed primarily for melting non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, lead, and zinc. It may also be used for gold and silver however, depending on heat source and working conditions, cast iron may not always reach optimal temperatures for these metals, which could affect performance.
