Description

These Busch 417 Pearl Drills are specially designed to prevent the chipping of the nacre when drilling pearls, and can be used to enlarge pre-drilled holes as well as to half or full drill pearls.

Pearls can be held in a Pearl Vice while drilling so that there is no risk of slipping, or in fingers wrapped with protective tape.

Measuring 0.9mm diameter, it is made from strong hardened steel and it features a smooth flat head. It is designed to leave a soft edged hole.

It has a full working head depth of 3.9mm.

Designed to be used in conjunction with a pendant drill, hobby drill, micromotor or even a pin vice such asorto cut or grind away a smooth hole.

Each burr’s construction consists of a tapered (top and bottom) end which finishes at a small sharp point, mounted onto a 2.34mm shank.

The shank fits into the collet/chuck of the drill, and when turned this points twists into the pearl or bead it removes the surface being worked upon.

Quantity of material removed depends on pressure applied.

Please note it is advisable to drill pearls under water or a constant stream of water to keep the pearl or bead cool and to stop discolouration, we would also advise using the pendant motor at a slower speed.
