Yellow Sapphire, Round, 3mm

Description

Sapphire is a variety of the mineral corundum. These yellow sapphires display a vivid yellow tone created using a beryllium treatment. This involves beryllium with blue or yellow-green corundum heated to high temperatures over an extended period of time.

The birthstone for september, sapphire has generally been known as the stone of wisdom and is excellent for restoring balance and bringing serenity and calm whilst yellow sapphire is associated with wealth and prosperity.

This round faceted sapphire measures 3mm.

Sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 4.00.

Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each stone is unique so colours will vary and natural inclusions and zoning may be present.

Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place sapphire stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Sapphire can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth.

It is advised to avoid exposing sapphire to prolonged periods of heat and light.

A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these sapphires are sold individually.

Rubies and Sapphires purchased from Cookson Precious Metals Ltd are natural and heat treated.
