This Wooden Forming and Dapping Block is perfect for creating domes and angles within your metal sheet and as it is made from wood it provides a softer tool to work with, preventing surface marks and scratches.

The block includes 4 domes measuring 50mm, 54mm, 55mm and 60mm.

It also has two faces that are purely to create different grooves.

The grooves included on the block are;

• 2 x V grooves 6 x 10mm and 6 x 12mm
• 2 x Rectangular grooves 3.5mm x 14mm and 3.5mm x 11.5mm
• 5 x Half round grooves 5mm,7mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm and 12mm

To use for doming simply annealyour metal to make it more malleable, cool, pickle and then place on doming block over the largest indent to start, (be sure to use slightly smaller punch) then strike with force using a mallet such asorto start doming/shaping. Repeat a few times, moving the punch around in a circular motion as you go. You’ll need to anneal again after a few strikes and work down the diameters until you reach your required size.
