Onyx, Round Cabochon, 12mm

Description

Onyx is a variety of Chalcedony from the Quartz family, easily identifiable by its jet black colour and highly polished surface.

These onyx have been treated with a dyeing process to uniform the black colour tones of the stone.

Onyx has generally been known as a stone of protection and is excellent for promoting strength and improving self confidence and wise decision making.

This round onyx cabochon measures 12mm.

Onyx has a hardness of 6.5 – 7 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.55 – 2.7.

Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each cabochon is unique so colours will vary and slight natural inclusions are sometimes faintly visible.

Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place onyx stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Onyx can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth.

It is advised to avoid exposing onyx to prolonged periods of heat and light.

A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these onyx are sold individually.
