Grain Tool No.3

Description

Made from steel, this grain tool is aproximately 60mm in length, at the end of which is polished to a concave hemisphere.

Used with a Ball Shaped Handle (-ALP) or the Universal Handle () it is employed when grain setting, grains from the metal’s surface are lifted with a scorper ( – AZJ) and then rounded with the grain tool over the stone.

The size of the tool should relate to that of the grain.

There are various sizes available, the smallest tool Size 1 measures 0.30mm with the Largest tool Size 20 measuring 1.25mm.

Other sizes are available;

• Size 4 = 0.45mm
• Size 5 = 0.50mm
• Size 6 = 0.55mm
• Size 7 = 0.60mm
• Size 8 = 0.65mm
• Size 9 = 0.70mm 982 009
• Size 10 = 0.75mm 982 011
• Size 20 = 1.25mm

Also available in a set of 12, sizes 5-16 supplied with a handle ().
