These 14ct Gold Filled Light Weight Scrolls are a workshop essential for any jewellery maker when creating earrings. The design features a fluted edge for an enhanced design and two scrolled sections, commonly known as a butterfly back. The friction back mechanism ensures a secure, sturdy fit for smooth and comfortable adjustment. The scrolls are light weight and therefore extremely comfortable to wear and ideal for fastening light weight earring studs.

Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal – usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable.

Unlike gold plated metal, gold filled can be soldered using 9ct or 14ct gold easy solder.

The scrolls measure 4.6mm x 3.8mm. The internal hole diameter is approximately 0.8mm and will fit earring posts with a 0.65mm-0.76mm thickness.
