Description

These 14ct Gold Filled Small Scrolls are a workshop essential for any jewellery maker when creating earrings. The design features a rounded shape and two scrolled sections, commonly known as a butterfly back. The friction back mechanism ensures a secure, sturdy fit for smooth and comfortable adjustment. These scrolls would be ideal for fastening lightweight earrings.

Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal – usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable.

Unlike gold plated metal, gold filled can be soldered using 9ct or 14ct gold easy solder.

The scrolls measure 4mm x 1.5mm. The internal hole diameter is approximately 0.8mm and will fit earring posts with a 0.65mm-0.76mm thickness.
