Description

Emerald is the green variety of the mineral beryl, easily identifiable by its rich green colours, caused by the presence of chromium in the beryl.

Varying from transparent to fully opaque in clarity, emeralds often contain many inclusions, which can help in distinguishing real emeralds from synthetic stones.

The birthstone for may, emerald has generally been known as the stone of love and is excellent for healing and promoting vitality and new beginnings.

This oval faceted emerald stone measures 5mm x 3mm.

Emerald has a hardness of 7.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.7 – 2.8.

Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each stone is unique so colours will vary and natural inclusions and zoning may be present.

Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. Emeralds can be brittle due to their inclusions and care must be taken when setting. It is not advised to place emeralds stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Emeralds can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth.

It is advised to avoid exposing emerald to prolonged periods of heat and light.

A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these emeralds are sold individually.
