Durston Skillet Or Ingot Mould, 6 Small Groove

Description

The Durston Skillet, or ingot mould, is used when melting metal to create bars and ingots.

Made from cast iron, this tools features 6 grooves that measure approximately 6mm deep. Each groove is placed evenly on each side of the skillet.

Each groove measures:

• 5mm wide x 140mm long x 6mm deep
• 6mm wide x 140mm long x 6mm deep
• 8mm wide x 140mm long x 6mm deep
• 10mm wide x 140mm long x 6mm deep
• 12mm wide x 100mm long x 6mm deep
• 20mm wide x 100mm long x 6mm deep

The molten metal is poured into the appropriate groove and left to solidify. The rough cast metal is turned out and then fashioned into wire, sheet etc. Useful for re-using off-cuts of metal.
