This 1.5mm 14ct Yellow Gold filled flat filed oval trace chain is ideal for showcasing small pendants and charms or wear on its own. Each link measures approximately 2.4mm in length, the chain has a total length of 18″/45cm, finished with a secure bolt ring clasp.

A trace chain, also known as a cable chain, features small, uniform oval or round links connected in a simple, consistent pattern. Flat filed chain is created after the links are formed and soldered, they are carefully filed flat on both sides to create a clean, refined finish.

Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal – usually brass. The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight, and is therefore a much thicker and more durable alternative to gold plating. Unlike gold plated metal, gold filled can be soldered using 9ct gold easy solder.

This chain is nickel-free and it is supplied without a UK hallmark due to its finished weight.

Please note:

• Gold Filled chain can be soldered using low-heat soldering techniques, as excessive heat may damage or discolour the bonded gold layer.
• The jump ring connecting the clasp is supplied unsoldered. Following manufacturer guidelines, soldering is not recommended, as it could damage the bolt ring mechanism.
• Additionally, this chain features a yellow gold flash plating to help preserve its brightness over time and to cover the solder spots. Please note that harsh cleaning products may remove this plating, as it is a very thin additional layer applied over the gold chain.
